When is the best time to take a pregnancy test?
It is optimal to wait until the right time to take a pregnancy test, which is after you’ve missed a period. Taking a test too early can result in a false negative, so even if you’re experiencing some of the pregnancy symptoms or just feel like you might be pregnant, it’s better to wait. Early morning collection of urine sample also assists in increased accuracy. You might like to discuss the collection process with the counsellor when making your appointment.
How does a pregnancy test work?
Pregnancy tests work by detecting a specific hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which is produced after the embryo is implanted in the uterus. It’s important for you to wait until you’ve missed your period to take a test so that there is enough hCG in the system to be detected by the test.
